Enhanced fatty acid uptake in visceral adipose tissue is not reversed by weight loss in obese individuals with the metabolic syndrome

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2015
abstract:
Methods NEFA uptake in AT depots was measured with [F-18]-fluoro-6-thia-heptadecanoic acid (F-18-FTHA) and positron emission tomography (PET) in 18 obese participants with the metabolic syndrome before and after a 6 week VLCD. Whole body fat oxidation was measured using indirect calorimetry and [U-C-13]palmitate. Sixteen non-obese participants were controls.
