Safe nano worker exposure scenarios : Sanowork

Other Research Product
Publication Date:
2011
abstract:
The following "representative" pool of NMs and applications have been selected: nanometals or metal oxides (ceramic or textile photocatalytic/antibacterial surfaces); CNTs (polymeric nanocomposites); organic/inorganic nanofibers (nanostructured membranes for water depuration system). The Sanowork practical approach consists of developing and establishment of exposure assessment strategy in field, before and after the introduction of conveniently developed methods aiming at risk remediation. The backbone is represented by the manufacturing process and exposure potential and scenarios that will result by a life cycle assessment (production, use and disposal) of the whole process. The worker exposure scenarios are intended to be characterized before and after the introduction of proposed methods for reducing worker exposure and or decreasing the health impact. The same strategy is applied to the three case studies
