L'Epinomide, vangelo della religione astrale

The 'Epinomis' announces to the Greeks a new religion, based on the worship of the stars. The Athenian goes far beyond the traditional veneration of the Sun and the Moon: he illustrates the genealogy of the astral deities, assigns them the names, defines the look, states festivals and sacrifices - just like Homer and Hesiod for the tradizionale gods. The new revelation is based on the fact that the regular and ordered movements of the stars show their own divine nature; morevor they allow men to acquire the knowledge of the number, which is the basis of all knowledge and of all good. The debt to the most ancient wisdom of the Egyptians and the Syrians is evident and the Athenian does not deny it of course, but claims the merit of the Greeks of perfecting what they learned from the former.
