Sterol content in muscular tissue of Squilla Mantis.

Sterols were isolated from Squilla mantis muscular tissue from the northern Adriatic sea. Their cmpositions were determined using capillary gas-liquid chromatography and mass-spectrometry methods. Sixteen sterols were separated and identified. Besides cholesterol, the other main sterols isolated were: cholesta-5.22-dien-3?-ol, 5x-cholestan-3?-ol, 24-methyl-cholesta-5.22-dien-3?-ol, 24-methyl-27-norcholesta-5.22-dien-3?-ol and 24-ethyl-cholest-5-en-3?-ol
