La cartografia di microzonazione sismica in Italia: metodi e strumenti

Book
Publication Date:
2022
abstract:
Seismic microzonation is a process that involves dividing a territory into small zones (microzones) in order to evaluate specific characteristics through an analysis process that is based on the assessment of geological, geomorphological, and geophysical properties of the territory that influence the effect of seismic events. The purpose of this volume is to create a practical and easily understandable tool for those who collect, consult, and produce data and maps of seismic microzonation. This work describes the tools that have been developed and used to create a thematic database and cartography for the national territory, according to the concepts presented in the Italian standards for seismic microzonation. Seismic microzonation maps represent a useful tool for planning and evaluating the seismic risk of a specific area, and are a valuable resource for territorial and urban planning, the design of new buildings and infrastructure, and for the assessment and definition of possible civil protection measures.
