abstract:
Viticulture aiming to the production of high quality wines represents a research and socioeconomie
area of great interest because it aims to an integrated combination of high quality
production, income and the sustainable land use. In fact, in a modern approach viticulture suitability
must be studied by means of a "zoning methodology" aiming to a land c1assification based on
pedological, c1imatic and topographic features; such c1assification has to be validated considering
the grapevine adaptability together with wine quality. Eventually, such zoning approach intend to
correlate specific land units (zones) to the wine quality
This study aims to approach this complex zoning procedure with an innovative methodology that
can combine (i) spatial distribution of daily c1imatic data, (ii) soil mapping and (iii) functional
models. All these data are considered in arder to estimate a some crociaI feature far wine quality
such as plant water stress.
