We report here the first study illustrating the attraction of fabricating solution-processed small molecule field-effect transistors and bulk heterojunction solar cells with semiconductors prepared using new sustainable synthetic procedures which minimize waste per kg of product (E-factor minimization). © 2013 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
