abstract:
This work presents a Simulation Based Design environment for solving optimum ship design problems using a Global Optimization algorithm. This multiobjective optimization framework makes use of high-fidelity CPU-expensive computational models, including a free-surface capturing RANSE solver. The complexity of the flow solver requires the use of approximation techniques for the objective function computation. A key point in this work is the study of different metamodelling techniques for the optimization process, including the use of self-adaptation techniques. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate both the validity and usefulness of the proposed approach.
