abstract:
In this paper direct shear tests and shaking table tests to measure the static and dynamic interface shear strength properties of different combinations between geotextile and sand, geotextile and clay, geotextile and geomembrane, geomembrane and sand, geomembrane and geogrid, geotextile and geogrid interfaces are reported. The influence of geosynthetic position during static tests, frequency of excitation during dynamic tests, vertical stress and relative density of the sand was studied. It was concluded that proper simulation of field conditions in laboratory experiments is important to obtain suitable friction angle values to be used in design.
