The role of the air-entrapment in the flip-through evolution

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2007
abstract:
A specific experimental investigation of the flip-through ( [8]) in a sloshing tank in depressurized condition has been dedicated to highligth the role of the air-entrapment during the impact of a breaking wave against a vertical wall. The compressibility effects in the evolution of the bubble, its collapse and the formation of air-water mixture have been investigated.Global behaviour of the decay coefficient characterizing the pressure peak time history and the freqquency of oscillation of the bubble have been measured.
