abstract:
The principles of hierarchical and interactive representation of complex systems are briefly reviewed as a meaningful introduction to the Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) which is then examined in its basic aspects of selective attention and orientation for matching and learning new categories respectively. ART model and architecture is used to guide in the
definition of an algorithm for the estimation of the position of a two--dimensional object; preliminary simulation results are given.
