abstract:
This paper analyses the behaviour of visitors in a heritage town using Direct Observation Method. The focus is on the Sassi di Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Italy; the case study shows how the application of the Direct Observation Method is a useful tool to understand how tourists actually interact with the local resources they are visiting.
