Indagini preliminari sull'attività di pesca dell'area marina protetta delle Isole Egadi mediante GIS

abstract:
Spatial and seasonal distribution of catch and fishing effort of the artisanal fishery in the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area (Sicily, Italy) have been investigated and represented by Geographic Information System (G.I.S.). The mean catch values per season ranged from 9.95 kg to 27.60 kg. Seasonal mean effort values ranged from 408.0 to 2250.0 (m of net). The C.P.U.E. (kg/1000 m of net) values estimate per seasons ranged from 5.28 to 15.56 in Favignana zones and from 15.75 to 54.74 in Marettimo. The most important resources are: Sepia officinalis, Scorpaena spp., Boops boops, Scomber spp. The main gear used by fishermen is trammel net.
