Particulate Measurement in a co-flow diffusion flame using thermocouple technique

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2003
abstract:
Transient thermocouple based measurements were used to detect soot and nanoparticles in a co-flowing diffusion flame of ethylene. Total particulate volume fractions were measured at different radial and axial coordinate locations and were compared with the results obtained by broadband absorption measurements. The good agreement between the two independent measurements demonstrates that transient-thermocouple measurement represents a powerful technique to measure total particulate volume fraction and its emissivity. This technique also furnishes point measurements not affected by inversion procedures.
