abstract:
The sex composition of the specimens of Sepia officinalis (Cephalopoda, Sepioidea) caught with fyke nets and pots in two areas of the Adriatic sea was analysed to investigate the catching mechanisms of the two types of traps. In both areas, males were attracted by the presence of females inside the pots, while the entrance of females seemed to follow a causal pattern, On the contrary, the entry of cuttlefish into the fyke nets did not appeared to be influences by sexual interactions.
