abstract:
This paper describes a system that integrates the geographical Information System (GIS) technology with models and methods of mathematical programming. GIS technology is applied in information management in the post-industrial counties. In developing countries, where human resources are scarce, GIS technology can help to plan
the few available resources in order to increase their impact on society. The proposed system not only creates a GIS of the territory, but also is able to model the territory and to apply, on the created mathematical model, algorithms which opitimize resource allocation.
