Abstract - All international instruments concerning integrated and sustainable management of coastal zone recognize the vital role that participation of all stakeholders and public access to relevant information play in this field. The present work aims to analyze the meaning and the scope of the principles of transparency and public participation, in the light of recent developments of international law in respect of public access to information and public participation in environmental matters.
