The building "masterpiece of the Florentine Renaissance" shows three different building phases: pre-existing medieval fifteenth-century and eighteenth-century alterations, following the earthquake of 1703. The analysis has revealed some deficiencies and weaknesses in both the presence of building earthquake-resistant devices of different periods, which have largely improved the seismic behavior, and some vulnerabilities, which were already present before, put in evidence consequently to the recent earthquake, in part exacerbated by some interventions in the twentieth century that affected both the interior of the building is burnishing its vicinity.
