Il conflitto tra accessibilità e fruizione nel progetto di conservazione

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2009
abstract:
The conflict between accessibility and fruition in the conservation project. Buildings and monuments, historical centres, parks and urban sites, all represent typologies with which the conservation doctrine has to relate as well as dealing with the problem of accessibility. "Accessibility" that can be very often compromising for a 'fruition of quality', considered as esthetical and intellectual enjoyment, because of the anthropical impact caused by mass tourism. "Accessibility" in other cases compromised by the morphology of the places and of the traditional typologies, as for the fabric of ancient cities. "Accessibility" sometimes completely denied for security reasons, as it happens for monumental buildings or urban parks and gardens, that means obstructing or conditioning the entrance and altering the visual-spatial perception. Finally, through some significant examples, the conflict between accessibility and fruition of both historical building and green areas offers the starting point to reflect upon this delicate theme, that the conservation culture should concretely face up to.
