Interventi sul costruito storico: un altro tipo di degrado antropico?

The contribution examines housing projects realized in some Italian town centers. The projects must follow the principles and techniques that constitute good conservation practice since they intervene upon important buildings and monuments at a historical, cultural and physical level. On the other hand, should these projects fail to follow good restoration practice, they may result in negative consequences, both historically and aesthetically, because the 'authenticity' and the concept of irreproducibility of the architectural facade may be compromised. Such problems, resulting from the absence or the inedequacy of policy for safeguarding of the cultural heritage, catalyse the need for further understanding of the issue even though this debate has been ongoing for decades, and as yet been crystallized. The absence of a solution effects mostly vernacular architecture, since it is less exposed to protection measures, but in real terms constitutes a fundamental part of the urban texture of the historical nuclei.
