Abstract:
The analysis of red blood cells (RBCs) is receiving tremendous attention in the medical and laboratory literature due to its important role in diagnosis (e.g., anaemia, malaria) and monitoring (e.g., storage lesions). In this work, the electrical characterization of red blood cells in a microfluidic impedance chip is investigated. In particular, the effect of RBC non-spherical shape and orientation is thoroughly studied, in a combined modeling and experimental approach. Copyright ?
