abstract:
There is a high demand in personal healthcare improvement in societies all around the world but any innovation in this field
must address two main issues: it must be affordable for most of the population and it must be portable to fulfill the need of
point of care analysis. The Lab-on-a-chip approach is quite suitable as it allows the use of microfluidic devices to perform bioanalysis
in an automated way outside a standard biological lab. The main objective of IC+ is to demonstrate that a lab-on-achip
interfaced with a cell-phone could be a revolutionary device for in-field bioassays and personalized healthcare, taking
advantage of the widespread diffusion and computational capabilities of current portable electronic devices.
