Cyclic CO2 capture and methanation over alkali promoted Ru catalysts

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2021
abstract:
Conversion of CO2 captured from point emission sources (or air) into added-value chemicals and fuels can represent a smart solution for decreasing CO2 emissions. One of these processes is based on the reaction of CO2 with hydrogen from renewable sources to produce methane that can be used as synthetic substitute of natural gas (SNG). Recent studies have investigated the development of dual functional materials (DFM) containing both a sorbent and a catalytic active component that can capture CO2 from a flue gas until saturation and subsequently convert it at the same temperature using H2 from renewable sources to produce SNG while regenerating for the next cycle.
