Plutonic-geothermal systems of southern Tuscany: a review of the crustal models.

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1998
abstract:
The inner part of northern Apenines is characterized in southern Tuscany by granitie intrusions, volcanism, hydrothermal mineralization and active geothermal systems. A great deal of geological, drill hole and geophysical data has been gethered in relation with exploration and expliotation of geothermal areas of Larderello and Mt. Amiata, and the CROP 03 profile. Summarizing the available data, we propose a model for structure and evolution of the inner aprt of the Northern Apennines roughly corresponding to western part of CROP 03. One regional scale our model implies underplating, anatexis and widespreadhigh temperature, low pressure (HT-LP) metamorphism, developed in the last 6 My.
