abstract:
Aquatic macrophytes play a key role in maintaining good water quality, sheltering different forms of animal life and allowing for a good functioning
of the whole aquatic ecosystem. Their fragile nature makes them particularly vulnerable to the damage caused by myopic and uncontrolled industrial
and recreational development and, more recently, by the effects of climate change. The fragile nature of this littoral environment makes ecological
management essential. Lake gardens uses images to describe a large variety of aquatic plants that populate the littoral areas of lakes and rivers.
