abstract:
Both experimental and numerical tools are used to investigate the steady flow field around a trimaran vessel. The
experimental measurements are used to state the reliability of two numerical algorithms: a fully nonlinear 2D+t
potential flow solver and a linear 3D-RPM numerical model. Then, the two solvers have been used to study the physical
features highlighted by the experiments, more in particular to identify the interference and linear and nonlinear
hydrodynamic interaction among the hulls and behind the transom stern.
