abstract:
The damage to health associated with residence in high risk areas, and the benefits associated with remediation activities can be quantified, thus contributing to the development of scientifically founded decision-making processes in public health. In order to develop appropriate evaluations, it is desirable that research and methodological improvement are specifically supported for: epidemiological studies, exposure evaluation through biomonitoring, development of surveillance systems based on environment-health indicators, use of Health Impact Assessment and adoption of procedures for participation and communication of results.
