abstract:
Euclid organizes geometry according to deductive method in a coherent corpus of definitions, axioms, and postulates: by this way, geometry becomes the model not only for mathematics, but also for scientific rationality itself. "Elements" represent a point of arrival, into which come together the research conducted by the predecessors of Euclid. At the same time, they make up the text of reference, under which the mathematicians of the Alexandrian age can be recognized as a true community.
