abstract:
Design of a laboratory scale reactor for Mild Combustion of gaseous fuels, diluted with super heated steam, is presented and discussed. A tubular flow reactor with a jet in cross-flow mixing section configuration has been chosen because responds to the need of having both a high resolution of the oxidative process in high temperature, diluted conditions and an efficient mixing of reactants.
A simplified configuration working at room temperature has been designed for an experimental fluid-dynamic characterization in order to evaluate the efficiency of the mixing section by means of optical diagnostic analyses. Experimental results have been analyzed and compared with numerical analyses realized using a commercial CFD code (FLUENT).
