The application of metalloporphyrins and poly-metalloporphyrins as basic material for chemical sensors

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
1996
abstract:
In this paper the performance of quartz microbalances coated with various metalloporphyrins are illustrated and discussed. Tests with sensors exposed to various substances (such as amines, sulphides and alcohols) that the selectivity is mainly due to the nature of the metallic part of the metalloporphyrin complex. This feature makes these compounds particularly appealing for electronic nose applications where a variety of selectivity is required. In particular the tested sensors have been proven to be suitable to classify chemical environments where nitrogen and oxygen play a key role, such as in the headspace of spoiling food
