Inclusion in the welfare system has a decisive influence on the outcomes of integration processes of the immigrant population. In this article, we propose an assessment of the integration of immigrants into the Italian welfare state. After an analysis of integration policies, we will make an analysis of the real investment of the Italian welfare state in social services for immigrants. We will do this by using data concerning the social expenditure of municipalities.
