Abstract:
The Villa d'Este Palace in Tivoli is a renowned historical site, because of its magnificent gardens. It is included in the UNESCO world heritage list. The present paper deals with some issues related to the preservation of architectural and artistic assets of the Palace. In particular, some aspects related to the seismic assessment of the building are presented and discussed. The large uncertainties affecting material modeling and structural schemes motivated the development of an integrated approach to structural analysis. Building Information Modeling (BIM) played a primary role in this context. Its promising applicative perspectives for the integration of historical, architectural and structural data are remarked, pointing out how advanced software interface for data management can effectively support linear and non-linear local kinematic seismic analyses.
