During a polyculture experiment in the Gulf of Castellammare, a microbiological study focused on the hygienic-sanitary and trophic conditions of the farming area. The results highlighted that the waters met the requirements of area designed for shellfish culture, and that polyculture did not affect significantly the trophic status of the waters
