Reaction of several ?-silyl acetylenic ketones with hexamethyldisilathiane (HMDST) in the presence of TfOTMS affords a simple and direct entry to silylated acetylenic thioketones and, after desilylation, to the corresponding unsubstituted ?,?-unsaturated thioketones.
