Exploring factors that affect the well-being of healthcare workers

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2017
abstract:
The aim of this study is to assess and compare the overall level of wellbeing within three Italian pediatric hospitals belonging to the same healthcare organizations. The paper employs a job demands-resources approach by considering the multilevel model of employee wellbeing developed by Bakker (2015) as theoretical framework, and by considering the suggestions by Demerouti & Bakker (2011) in including also personal resources and health indicators when assessing the level of employee wellbeing within the healthcare context. The paper contributes to extend the literature on wellbeing and on the management of healthcare organizations, by providing interesting insights on the multilevel model of employee wellbeing and interesting managerial implications.
