Laser driven ion traps: Beyond the standard perturbative limit

abstract:
It is shown that a suitable unitary transformation applied to the N-ion Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian allows to go beyond the standard perturbative limit (associated with the laser intensity) which affects the rotating wave approximation (RWA).
