L'agricoltura contadina tra interventi nazionali in favore delle piccole produzioni locali e del chilometro zero e interventi regionali a presidio e custodia del territorio

In recent years they often spoke about "peasant agriculture" to supportand defend a type of agricultural production that is essentially an alternative to industrial agriculture: small-scale agriculture, based fundamentally on family work, oriented towards direct sales in the local area; low environmental impact and multifunctional; rooted in the territory in which it is inserted and fundamental to counteract the abandonment of rural areas. This type of agriculture, although it can offer an important contribution both in terms of sustainability and care and protection of places, and despite representing a significant portion of Italian agriculture, is struggling to find adequate recognition and support from the national and European legislator. This contribution analyzes the interventions promoted at national and regional level which, while not specifically intended to support small-scale agriculture or peasant agriculture, can nonetheless represent a step forward in that direction: if the State legislator has been more attentive to aspects of the production and marketing of products obtained from small-scale agriculture (as demonstrated by the laws on small local productions and on zero kilometer), the Regional one, closest to the territory, seems to move more in search of ways to enhance the role that the small farmer can perform as custodian and guardian of the rural territory.
