44orpho-biometric notes on Pratylenchus zeae Graham, 1951. The morpho-biometric characters of a
population of Pratylenchus zeae found in a maize field in Argentina were compared with those of populations
of different geographic origin (United States of America and Senegal). No substantial differences were observed
between the Argentinian and the other populations reported in the literature. However, the study indicated that
the number of the annules in the cephalic region, the stylet length and the vulva position are the most useful
diagnostic characters within the genus Pratylenchus. Illustrations showing the variability of the main morphological
characters of P. zeae are provided.
