Efficient waveguide amplifier and laser operating in the full C-band directly fabricated by using ultrafast laser pulses

We demonstrated for the first time effective net amplification and laser action in the full C-band (1530-1565 nm) by using a 20-mm-long waveguide fabricated on a erbium-ytterbium-doped phosphate glass by means of femtosecond laser pulses. (c) 2005 Optical Society of America.
