Noise Prediction of High-Speed Rotating Blades Through the Kirchhoff-Ffowcs Williams Hawkings Formulation

abstract:
An algorithm for the evaluation of the retarded configuration of a supersonic rotating surface has been developed, implemented and validated. This algorithm has been now used to test the capabilities of the Kirchhoff-Ffowcs Williams Hawkings formulation in the HSI noise prediction. Like the Kirchhoff approach, this method avoids the computation of the nonlinear three-dimensional terms and performs the integration on a (fixed or rotating) surface imcluding the noise-radiating body. Numerical results are presented and discussed.
