abstract:
The paper makes a critical review of the experimental research work carried out within the 17th ITTC cooperative program for seakeeping comparative tests on S175 container ship model.
Its aim is to answer two requirements particularly urged for seakeeping model tests in rectangular basins: to make uniform the several experimental procedures and to assess the reliability degree of model results affecting ship predictions.
After the main experimental troubles, tank limitedness implications and data analysis techniques have been discussed, INSEAN results are compared with ITTC cooperative program ones and, as to regular wave signal, an original analysis technique is proposed.
