abstract:
Powdery mildew control with natural compounds on cucurbit
Various natural substances and the mycoparassite Ampelomyces quisqualis were tested against Sphaerotheca fusca, causal agent of powdery mildew on cucurbits. Several compounds (sodium bicarbonate, milk, pinolene, calcium and magnesium chloride and potassium, sodium and ammonium dibasic phosphates) showed a high effectiveness in a preliminary experiment carried out under controlled cinditions, but only a few of these confirmed such behaviour in the fielld. In field trials, the most interesting results were obtained with milk, sulphur and the mixture sulphur + vegetal oil. Sodium bicarbonate showed an apprecciable although inconstant effectiveness, while the foliar fertilizer Trym, azadirachtin and A. quisqualis proved poorly or no effective
