abstract:
The increasing attention to the determination of the different chemical forms (speciation) of nickel comes from the different dangers of various forms of aggregation of nickel present in the solid waste. In this work is proposed a method of speciation of nickel which uses the X-ray diffraction of powders: the developed analytical protocol is based on the analysis of diffraction spectra using standard of NiCl2, NiSO4, Ni(NO3)2 (in various degrees of hydration), NiO and nanometals nickel mixed with a synthetic soil composed of quartz and kaolinitic clay. The calibration lines have been performed to concentrations from 1000 ppm to 50000 ppm. The method has been applied to the analysis of the nickel content in FCC catalysts of the petrochemical industry and compared with the BCR method, one of the few accredited methods for speciation of nickel, obtaining similar results in terms of quantity in less time.
