A SERIOUS GAME FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF LEARNING. A CASE OF STUDY IN CALVELLO (Potenza)

Abstract:
In 2015 in Calvello, a small town near
Potenza, a project of restoration and refurbishment
of the Castle was presented, which among other
actions involved the construction of a ceramics
museum. Within this museum have been developed
several applications, two immersive videos and an
interactive serious game intended as an "enabling
platform", which allows visitors to learn the
execution techniques and the peculiarities of
ceramics in a precise historical period. The
simulation of serious games allows users to make
experiences, that is to concretely represent what we
only know on a theoretical level and so to learn very
quickly. Serious games represent a real revolution in
education strategies: thanks to their ability to
simulate different aspects of the experience, they are
an effective tool for the acquisition and the
enhancement of learning in different sectors.
