A contribution to the study of the pre-industrial and industrial brick production in Marsciano

The transmission of complex contents on the architectures of the past is made effective by the contribution given by 3D modeling and digital representation, managed and organized within interactive applications and passive animations. For this work we have mainly used the hybrid photo restitution, with digital photogrammetry and integrations of elements detected on site with indirect measurements. The purpose is to show the evolution of brick production processes, starting from the preindustrial furnace of Compignano (fraction of Marsciano, Perugia), abandoned in favor of a continuous production in Hoffmann type furnaces, ending with the most effective industrial production introduced with the Tunnel oven. The 3D representation of pre-industrial and industrial production processes has proved to be an extremely effective and simple communication method for museums.
