abstract:
Developing interspecific chromosome addition lines is a preliminary step in the interspecific gene transfer programmes in the Triticeae. The direct isolation of the Triticum turgidum L. - Dasypyrum villosum (L.) Candargy monosomic addition for the D. villosum !V chromosome is reported in the present paper. Polyacrilammide gel of the seed storage proteins (gliadins and glutenins) was used to identify and characterize the !V chromosome. The phenotype of the addition line is similar to that of durum wheat cv Creso parental line, but its fertility is reduced. The trasmissibility of the complete extrachromosome is 9,5% by selfing.
