Economic-grade potassic alteration in the volcanic-hosted epithermal system of Monti Ferru, Western Sardinia, italy

abstract:
In Sardinia in the Monti Ferru region, regional prospecting for epithermal systems related to Oligo-Miocene calc-alkaline volcanics has identified both metallic mineralisation and K-feldspar enrichment. These occurrences form continuous outcrops and occur over several square kilometres. The epithermal systems display broad pervasive K-alteration, which includes fairly high quantities of industrial grade potassium feldspar, whilst the hydrothermal quartz veins host Fe-oxides, small quantities of metal sulphides and strongly anomalous for gold.
