The BASE system: a Digital Behavioral Assessment tool for school environment

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2019
abstract:
The Behavioural Assessment to improve School Environment (BASE) system is an evidence-based tool developed in the context of digital intervention practices at school. The theoretical framework is the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system, supported by the Functional Behavioral Assessments, that introduces a significant change in school management. The predecessor of the BASE application is the WHAAM application that was focused on the functional assessment applied to children with ADHD, while this new system expands the field of intervention to the whole heterogeneous school. The BASE Application is a tool supporting teachers in monitoring students by gathering data and evaluating outcomes through a specific data analysis algorithm that also implements the non-parametric TAU-U indices. As a result, the user can evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention. Linked to the BASE Application there is a Repository that collects digital resources about theoretical and practical aspects of this approach.
