abstract:
Sheared viscous flow deforms magnetic island and the formulation of the
problem of control of neoclassical tearing modes by localized, phased electron
cyclotron current drive (ECCD) may be altered. We address some aspects of
this question by providing a new version of the Rutherford evolution model
applicable to asymmetric neoclassical islands and concentrate on the estimate
of the consequences of island deformation on the ECCD stabilization term.
