The MitoRes database

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2007
abstract:
The MitoRes database is an integrated resource of nuclear-encoded mitochondria sequences. It collects and integrates protein, transcript and gene sequences from every metazoan species available to date and implements tools for the retrieval and export of different categories of sequences. The aim is to support researchers interested in the functional characterization and comparative analysis of mitochondria targeting sequences, in overcoming problems they face when searching for different subsets of related sequences from different resources and for different organisms. This article is aimed at giving an overview of the tools provided by MitoRes and some suggestions on how they can be used to exploit the database in the best way.
